New Uebel Artist: Evgeny Petrov

Clarinet professor at the Moscow Conservatory


Evgeny Petrov is the most dazzling representative of the Russian clarinet school. He gave his first solo concert at the age of 14. He then became a prize-winner of the International Competition "Concertino-Prague" (1986), and three years later he won the First Prize at this prestigious competition. In 1990 Evgeny became the first prize-winner in the history of Russia at the International Clarinet Competition in Geneva (II prize), as well as the winner of the scholarship of the International "Award association".


In 1995 the name of E. Petrov was included in the Golden Book of Russian Talents "XX. Century - XXI Century". In 2001 an article about him was included in the encyclopaedia "Musicians of the World".

He graduated from the Central Music School at the Moscow State Conservatory, then from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory with honours (1995) and postgraduate studies (1997) in clarinet with Professor, Artist of the People of the Russian Federation V. A. Sokolov. Since 1994 he has been teaching at the Central Conservatory of Music and since 1996 - at the Moscow Conservatory.
